Liverpool boss Arne Slots has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is still out of training. While Virgil van Dijk is fit despite picking up an injury on international duty.

Alexander-Arnold withdrew from Lee Carsley’s England squad to treat a hamstring injury, which saw him substituted after just 25 minutes of the Reds’ 2-0 win over Aston Villa, while Van Dijk left the Thurland camp early with an injury.UFABET

Asked about the fitness of both defenders ahead of the trip to Southampton, Slot said: “Virgil (van Dijk) is OK and trained with us today.”

“Virgil is fine. Trent (Alexander-Arnold) hasn’t trained with us yet but he’s doing well so we expect him to be back with us soon.”

However, Slots has suggested Alexander-Arnold could be back in time for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid. But he does not think either Alisson Becker or Diogo Jota will be available.

“The only thing I can say about Alisson and Jota is I don’t think they’re ready for that game. With Trent, it’s a bit of a stretch.”

Slots also confirmed that Harvey Elliott has returned to training with the team after suffering a foot injury in September.

“Harvey (Elliott) is back training with us, that’s good. He’s back training with the team, that’s good for him.”
